Alex Greene was born in 2007 in McKinney, Texas, to a family that’s been fueled by motosports passion for generations. His parents named him after former racing legend, Alessandro Zanardi, in recognition of their own commitment to facing adversity. As a young boy, Alex was surrounded by the sights and sounds of high-performance cars and intense competition.
At five years old, he was behind the wheel of his very first kart, an experience that would become a defining part of his early racing career. He soon found himself at his first major motorsports event, a Formula One race, just months later. As he grew older, his passion for racing heightened. At seven, he joined the K1 Speed’s Junior Karting League, where he quickly proved himself to be a talented young driver. He went on to secure the championship win in an impressive debut season. Alex’s family invested in his first ‘true’ kart – an outdoor racing machine that would challenge him in the world of NTK and DKC. He took on both tracks with renewed enthusiasm, determined to learn more.
The years that followed were marked by a mix of success and setbacks. As he entered high school, Alex made a conscious effort to focus on his studies. He’d still participate in racing events as a junior, but the emphasis was now on achieving academic excellence.
However, it wasn’t too long before he returned to the track as a more mature competitor. He finished second in his first year of the Teen League championship and followed that up with back-to-back titles in 2023 and 2024. The latter would earn him a spot in the state-wide championship, where he’d secure a solid fourth-place finish.
The 2024 season brought new challenges and opportunities for Alex. He began experimenting with more advanced machinery – a second-generation Spec Racer Ford – as he transitioned from karting to open-wheel racing. In between testing various cars, he took the time to learn and develop his skills through the Hallett Motor Racing Circuit’s racing school in Oklahoma. The experience was invaluable, but what truly stood out was Alex’s speed, professionalism, and attention to detail. His efforts didn’t go unnoticed, as he earned a highly sought-after competition license from the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA).
As he nears graduation from high school in 2024, Alex is focused on taking his racing career to the next level. He’ll be attending the University of Texas at Arlington, where he’s been accepted into the Automotive Engineering program as part of the UTA Formula SAE team. Apart from college, he’s already got a clear picture of his short-term and long-term goals. In the near future, he’s looking to get involved in both time-trial and wheel-to-wheel competition in various regional series like the SCCA, NASA, and ChampCar. His ultimate goal remains the top echelons of motorsports – competing professionally in a major sportscar racing series like IMSA or the FIA WEC.
